Will I be able to keep my home/car?
You can usually keep your home and most clients can also keep their cars depending on equity. During an initial consultation, the attorney will be able to answer this specifically for your situation.
Do you accept payments?
Yes, we accept payments. Once you are on retainer with us you determine how much you can pay each month. Once your fees and costs are paid in full and you turn in the required paperwork, we can usually have you filed within 2-4 weeks.
How long will a bankruptcy take?
An average Chapter 7 bankruptcy will take about 3 to 3 1/2 months from filing to receipt of your discharge and a Chapter 12 or 13 usually takes 3 to 5 years from filing to receipt of your discharge.
How long will this affect my credit?
A Chater 7 bankrupty will remain on your credit report for 10 years but usually you can qualify for new credit at a decent interest rate after 2 years. A Chapter 13 will remain on your credit report for 7 years.
Will I have to go to court?
The short answer is yes. However, your obligation to appear in court will be minimal. A month or so after filing your bankruptcy petition, you will be required to attend a hearing called a First Meeting of Creditors. When you chose our firm, rest assured that your attorney will attend this meeting with you and be there for you every step of the way.
